Hello poppets, well it's June and I'm sitting here, dog on lap, surrounded by soggy tissues because I have a stinking cold! Boo. Where has our summer gone? has anyone seen it? was that sunny weekend back in May it? a mere blip of warmth until next year? All my winter bits are now stowed away in the loft and I'm desperately trying to kid myself that my summer dressing gown has sufficient cosiness, when what I really want is my big furry dressing gown and big slippers but I shall resist! Still, at least our plants are getting a good water :-) Here's our month in pictures ....
A couple of weeks ago I was delighted to be invited down to my local Coopers department store to cut the ribbon for their new craft department. My little craft club 'The Cottage Crafters' were there in full attendance because we are over the moon about the new craft department, as will the rest of our local crafters be when they discover it for themselves. When the sun has decided to warm our cockles, Ralphy and I have been heading out into the garden (hubby's not a keen gardener - he's as good in the garden as I am in the kitchen, which isn't saying much.) I've been a little lazy this year and have opted to scatters wildflower seeds as I've not had the time to grow and nurture veggies. I have been crafting in the garden too, but I'll be sharing that project in July!
Buster came over for a sleepover this month, which Ralphy was chuffed about. Ralphy's quite picky when it comes to making doggie friends, he'll always opt to keep to himself but he and Buster always have fun together, and Ralphy will always protect Buster when other doggies come sniffing around.
I shared one of our cottage holidays this month. Last December our little trio headed to The Coach House in Suffolk, a romantic hideaway which I found on on cottages.com ... it is a rural, beautifully decorated, rustic, detached converted stable featuring it's own 2 acre woodland! Finally, the elderflowers are almost finished! so if you want to make some delicious Elderflower Cordial now is the time to get picking and making people. This recipe is incredibly easy to follow and it is SO delicious, you'll never want shop-bought again.
