A month in pictures - Autumn in October

It's been a busy month as always at AHC HQ. I've been knee-deep in recording my album this month which is coming along wonderfully, and I can't wait to share it with you when finished. I've been enjoying autumn crafts, the cosy nights, hot ribena in a flask on our chilly doggy walks and enjoying the scenery of this beautiful season. There has been some lovely clear days, but there has been plenty of drizzle too - only today I was wondering why I had wet feet on our dog walk, and it turns out the soles of my boots had come completely unstuck! Another good reason to own a glue gun me thinks! Here is our autumn month in pictures ....

I think autumn is my favourite time of the year for walking. Aside from the breathtaking scenery it helps clear the cobwebs and blues that can sometimes settle during these colder darker days. I'm quite lucky and have never really suffered from SAD (seasonal affective disorder) but I can imagine this must be a very hard time of the year for those that do.

How to make Rose hip facial oil

Rose hips and sloes in the hedgerows are such a lovely sight aren't they?  - I had intended to make some Rose hip syrup this year to help with hubby's man-flu but I never got around to it. There are some still around, so if you fancy making yourself a rich facial oil to nourish your skin in these colder months you can watch a video I made here ....

Autumn flowers heart wreath

This month I whipped up this Autumn flowers heart in just ONE hour. This is a super quick and easy project that has brought all the wonderful warm rustic tones of Autumn into my little cottage, and as they are dried flowers it can be re-used year after year.

I collected some autumn leaves for experimenting with various crafty projects, but have now decided to use pressed flowers for a project I have coming up - I think you'll love it, I know I will :-)

Then at Halloween I celebrated all things spooky, from pretty Pumpkin carvings to Victorian ghost stories and outings! .... read on if your dare!!

Then on the cold evenings we've snuggled up in front of the fire to watch Downton Abbey and the like, with warm tootsies and home-cooked soul food warming our bellies - at times like these I feel incredibly lucky, and thankful for all the warmth and love I have in my life ... I think Ralphy feels the same ....

So Happy Autumn my friends, stay safe and warm and don't forget to check for hedgehogs under your bonfires!

  1. The space between yours and your husband's head in the photo of you holding hands looks just like the silhouette of an acorn (!) - which is very autumnal :) Lovely leafy pics
