I don't know about you but I'm not at all organised for Christmas yet. I've been so busy working on the next video, I've yet to dust off my Christmas deccies! But when it comes to pressies I've been quite organised. In the next couple of weeks I'd like to give you some pressie ideas, all of which are easy projects I've made throughout the year (err except for the necklace!) The following gifts are all nature inspired and super easy to make, as I'm far too lazy to have it any other way ;-) so if you fancy whipping up any of the following, simply click on the links!
The acorn and leaf necklace is a perfect gift for nature lovers. It's handmade by Glover and Smith, and can be worn together or separately. I'm lucky enough to own one myself and I LOVE it. They also make lots of other beautiful, nature-inspired things so have a lookie.
How to transform a plain birdhouse into a 'country cottage' work of art. This is an ideal weekend project, and is much easier than it looks!
Pamper your loved ones with some homemade anti-ageing Rose hip facial oil, simply boil up some Rose hips with Jojoba oil and bottle it in a pretty vintage bottle, with a lace ribbon around it's neck. Watch the video tutorial here.
This tutorial will show you how to make a pressed flower or leaf decoupage lampshade. This would make a wonderful gift and looks absolutely stunning both lit and unlit. Difficulty level: easy.
If you've any pressed flowers from the summer, pick up a Kiko frame (or 'float frame' in the US) and pop in some petals. If you don't have any petals you could easily pick some flowers now, from the garden or florist and pop some of the petals in a heavy book - they'll be dry and ready to use before Christmas! If your loved ones have a wood stove or open fire AND they share a love for all things shabby / vintage, they will LOVE this vintage tin matchbox with a passion ... and it literally takes seconds to make. Pick up a vintage tin box from an antique / thrift shop - pop in some matches and stick the striking striking strip to the bottom.
Pick up some of these pretty Burgon and ball seed storage packets, and share some of the beautiful flower seeds from your garden with friends and family OR you could even cheat and buy a couple of different seeds packets from a shop and share them out amongst a couple of different friends .... pick a small basket and combine it with some other goodies (ie gloves, trowels etc) to create a luxury gardeners hamper at a fraction of the cost! It's a lovely, thoughtful inexpensive gift AND the birds and bees will love you for it!
A handmade flower arrangement such as this would cost a fair bit in the shops, yet it's SO easy to make and costs very little. Using mostly bits from the garden and a small bunch of flowers you can whip this up for your Christmas centrepiece in no time. You can use this method time and time again for birthdays, weddings, you name it. It's an ideal gift when money is tight, because it looks impressive but costs very little. See video below ...
