Autumn - Simply my most favourite time of the year.
The milky light, the rainbow of colours on the trees, the slight chill in the air which of course means fluffy socks, hot-water bottle and milky drinks! ... but before thoughts turn to winter, it's worth taking a moment to savour these glorious days. If we learn anything from Autumn it is to enjoy things while they last.
I went for walkies with hubbington and Ralphy and busied myself picking berries and branches to decorate the house with. I love bringing the outside inside, every season. A good friend of mine has a 'nature table' in her house ... every season her kiddies fill it with all the things they find on their adventures. It's such a lovely idea and makes children take notice of the wonderful changes in the season.
Not only is it lovely to fill our houses with nature, it also save a fortune on shop-bought flowers and decorations. Scatter leaves, cones and acorns, twine ivy and berries around mirrors, and fill vases with the changing leaves, evergreens and berries. I also love putting cones in a pretty bowl and adding a few drops of my favourite essential oils.
Then sit back with your Chai latte and enjoy some autumnal knitting!!
(... and an episode of 'Wind in the willows' perhaps??)
I've been making a Autumn Leaves scarf with this lovely rainbow yarn.

So have a lovely autumn my lovely people. Look up, be in the moment and walk in woodland while it lasts (perhaps with a flask of hot-chocolate?) because like all magical things, it never lingers long....
.... but that's ok cos we have SO many lovely things to look forward to in winter! ... Hot toddies, frost on the trees, onesies (but please, not in public) and CHRIIIISTMAAAAAS!!! ...
Magical woodland nearby. This bit always remind me of 'Labrynth'! and makes Ralphy and I want to watch magical films. |
